Easy Ways to Use Avocados

Avocados seem to be all the rage these days, as they are considered to be a “superfood” (a food that is rich with vitamins, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants) and they can be used in a wide variety of recipes. Most people are familiar with the classic avocado dish of guacamole, but what are some other ways to incorporate avocados into your diet? Here are some easy ways to use this delicious fruit:

  • Avocado toast – Take a soft, ripe avocado, and spread it on toast the way you would peanut butter. Then, season with salt and pepper to taste. To jazz it up a bit, top it with an egg cooked to your liking (fried or poached are popular choices). Other toppings can include diced tomatoes, onions, cheese, or bacon.

  • Avocado boats – Cut an avocado in half long ways and remove the seed. Then, crack an egg into the hollowed out divot in the avocado halves. Bake the avocado at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, then top with chopped bacon and green onions.

  • Avocado and tuna wraps – Mash together an avocado with the contents of a can of tuna, season with salt and pepper to taste, and then scoop the mixture into a wrap of your choosing.
