up. One of the last things you’ll want to do before
your guests arrive is to set the table. Setting the perfect
table for a few people takes only minutes, but it will
look like you put a great deal of effort into it.
Learn these easy reminders to effortlessly
set your table:
- Spoon, knife, and right all have
five letters, so place spoons and knives on the right
side of the plate, with the knife closer to the plate
than the spoon
- Fork and left both have four letters,
so place forks on the left side of the plate
- If you will be using multiple pieces
of silverware, place the ones you will be using first
(such as the salad fork or soup spoon) outside of the
ones you will be using later
- Always set placemats under plates
and silverware to keep spills from damaging the table
- Use a table cloth if the meal is
more formal
- Glasses are traditionally placed
to the seated person’s right
